May-June 2024

β€œIS IT STILL THE SAME DOWN GAINSBOROUGH WAY?'β€œ

A series of illustrations that explore how the earliest experiences in my life impacted my development and who I am today (namely my family- how we started and what happened since). I explore themes of divorce, childhood, love and loss.

All pieces were drawn with dip pen and India ink before being coloured with acrylic inks (applied by brush on hotpress watercolour paper). Each illustration measures 148x21mm.

This body of work was exhibited in β€˜Roots and Routes’ at Millbank Tower in June 2024 (curated and directed by Toria Eve, Ikleel Fadel and Kulsoma Khatun).

I plan on expanding on these illustrations in the future to make a zine which will further explore the themes and topic of the exhibition.
